Because our people deserve more than survival — we deserve to thrive.

When we show up, lives change. This year we need $200,000 to fund scholarships, create safe spaces for mental health, stand with our veterans, and care for our unhoused neighbors. When you give, you’re part of the story.

Together we’re building futures. Help us reach $200,000.

Our Why

We didn’t build Melanated Cares because it looked good on paper. We built it because we saw too many of us being left behind.

  • Shunté spent a night outside in 32-degree weather, side by side with unhoused neighbors. She never forgot that cold, or the faces of the people fighting through it.
  • Jocelyn watched men at our campout drop their guard for the first time and say, “I didn’t know how much I needed this space until now.”
  • Cayela saw the way kids lit up at our Littles Camping Trip — catching fish for the first time, realizing, “I can do something I’ve never done before.”

These moments are why we show up.
Melanated Cares is about more than programs — it’s about building spaces where our people can breathe, heal, and rise. Every dollar you give helps us do exactly that.

Our Impact

We believe in receipts. Not just words, but proof that when we show up, lives change.

Scholarships

Last year, we helped students move closer to their college dreams. This year, we’re tripling that support — over $7,500 in scholarships are on the way.

Mental Wellness

Healing circles, yoga, and hikes gave dozens a chance to finally put their burdens down.

Homelessness

Through CampGiving and care drives, we hand-delivered essentials — not just supplies, but dignity.

Veterans

We sponsored veterans to attend Melanated Campout — giving them space to relax, laugh, and reconnect.

Stories & Photos

We can tell you what we do all day, but the real story lives in the faces of the people we serve.

  • A veteran smiling ear to ear at our camp meet-up, finally feeling celebrated.
  • Kids at the Littles Camping Trip holding up their first fish like it’s a trophy.
  • Neighbors receiving care packages and pausing just to say, “Thank you for seeing me.”
  • Men in a healing circle — strong on the outside, finally letting go on the inside.

These are the moments your support makes possible.

Events

ur work isn’t just meetings and numbers — it’s people coming together, shoulder to shoulder, making memories while making change.

Camping With a Mission

A day filled with field games, music, food, and giving back. Families, friends, and whole crews come out to raise funds, pack care kits, and celebrate community — all while pushing us closer to our $200,000 goal.

Kidz Biz Fair

Young entrepreneurs stepping into the spotlight. Kids pitch, build, and sell their own creations — and the community shows up to cheer them on. It’s confidence-building, skill-sharpening, and so much fun to watch.

Melanated Campout

Where it all started. Adults-only weekends with healing circles, yoga, comedy shows, music under the stars, watergun battles, and conversations that remind us: you found your tribe.
